Star Wars Fan’s Wish Granted in the Nick of Time

 

The Force Awakens is not set to hit theaters until mid-December, but one ultimate lifelong Star Wars fan’s dying wish was granted just in the nick of time.

 

 

Daniel Fleetwood was diagnosed with spindle cell carcinoma and in September was given only one to two months to live. The hashtag #forcefordaniel developed late October, already surpassing the doctor’s estimations.  With tons of support from family, friends and internet strangers, Daniel’s wish gained momentum! His wish was starting to make its way around the world thanks to social media.

November 4th, JJ Abrams personally called to inform Daniel that his wish was being granted. November 5th, while in the comfort of his own home, Daniel watched the unedited version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens! His loving wife Ashley posted on Facebook to update close to 8,000 followers to the status of her husband’s plight.

Daniel got the opportunity to watch the film, and in the process of petitioning gained a massive amount of support from followers and fellow Star Wars Stars and Fans!

 

 

After a long and exhausting battle with cancer, Ashley announced early Tuesday morning, 5 days after his wish was granted, that Daniel passed peacefully in his sleep.
